If there could ever be a role-model for what a nudist resort should be, Lake Como Family Nudist Resort and Community in Lutz, Florida would be it. Quality lodgings, great management, a beautiful setting, amazing amenities and some of the friendliest people we have ever encountered anywhere - Lake Como Family Nudist Resort and Community has it all.
Lake Como Family Nudist Resort and Community in Florida’s Tampa Bay area offers "clothes-free nude recreation in a 200+ acre natural park setting for a true naturist experience." Their slogan is "Lake Como - the place to be NATURALLY!"
No matter where we went at Lake Como or who we encountered, we kept hearing the same thing - the people here love it.
As we were walking down one of Lake Como's paved streets, a nude gentleman with a big smile pulled up beside us on his bicycle. He said, "Hello, my name is Paco. I just turned 90 years old! I've been here for 19 years. I love it here. The people are so friendly!"
At the entrance to the hot tub complex, a fit and muscular baby-boomer named Bob explained to us how he had found Lake Como. "I came here six years ago. I was a brand-new nudist. I had no idea what to expect. I loved it here and have been here ever since. It was the best decision of my life."
As we strolled the grounds near the lake, a healthy and fit gray-haired gentleman named Art said, "What's not to like? On our very first visit here, we took off our clothes and it felt like the stresses of life just fell away. I wish I had known this years ago. It's just like a family here. I cannot imagine living anywhere else."
Doing things this well isn't an accident. Lake Como Family Nudist Resort and Community has been doing this for a while. Established in 1941, Lake Como Family Nudist Resort and Community is Pasco County’s first nudist resort and Florida’s oldest nudist resort continuously occupying the same grounds. Pasco County, Florida is now known worldwide as the nudist capitol of the world because of its' abundance of nudists and naturists.
Lake Como Family Nudist Resort and Community has amenities that most resorts - both nude and textile - would die for.
Their large, crystal-clear swimming pool is heated to just the right temperature for nude swimming. Nudity is required when using the pool, hot tub or sauna. For those who like to exercise in the pool, Lake Como offers water aerobics every Monday and Thursday, and water volleyball every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.
A squeaky-clean, spacious hot-tub that seats a dozen or more guests is located in a standalone screened enclosure complete with heated showers, towel racks and benches. The hot tub is a great place to spend a cool evening gazing up at the stars with ten or so of your new Lake Como friends.
For tennis enthusiasts, it doesn't get any better than this. The Lake Como West Grove Recreation Complex boasts five professional-grade Har-Tru green clay tennis courts and enough players to keep any player of any skill level happy.
For golf lovers, the complex has a golf driving-range and nine hole, chipping course - both offered free-of-charge! Where else can you golf for free in Florida?
Do you like sand volleyball? Not only can you enjoy the courts yourself, Lake Como hosts an Annual 10-day volleyball tournament every March. Hundreds of volleyball players come from all over the world to attend.
The lakeside beach offers a sandy beach, kayaking, pedal boating, a children’s playground, a multi-purpose court for basketball and pickle ball, petanque, horseshoes and shuffleboard. By the way, use of the pedal boats and kayaks for the 35 acre lake is provided to guests for free.
If you love Florida nature as much as we do, you will be thoroughly impressed by the Lake Como Nature Preserve which features 111 acres of wetland and woodland and 4 miles of trails. This is both a Florida Stewardship Forest and a National Wildlife Federation Certified Wildlife Habitat™. The views walking through the cedar forest and Spanish moss are spectacular.
If you don't want to, you never have to leave the grounds for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Lake Como's Bare Buns Café open daily at 8 a.m. and serves breakfast platters, omelettes, sandwiches, hoagies, burgers, soups, salads, appetizers, pizza and full dinners including steaks! They have draft beer on tap, wine and a full liquor bar.
Located right beside the sauna, the Butt Hutt Lakeside Bar is definitely the place to be in the evening with live bands, karaoke, darts, cornhole and even a jam night.

On our visit to Lake Como Family Nudist Resort, they were hosting the Star Spangled Celebration Weekend for Veteran's Day. There were vendors, a motorcycle contest, a charity ride, a musical military tribute, live bands, a free cookout and a veteran's parade. Proceeds benefited "Adopt-A-Troop" care packages for war-zone troops and "Pasco County Stand-Down" local veteran and intervention services.
FOR LGBT TRAVELERS - Lake Como has a non-discrimination policy: singles, couples and families are all welcome, regardless of race, ethnicity, age, religion, marital status, sexual orientation or disabling condition. This is very good to hear when, even today, some other nudist and naturist resorts say they only welcome "traditional" or "male-female" couples." Lake Como Family Nudist Resort and Community welcomes everyone and we met several LGBT couples during our stay.
