Smith Point County Park - the lost nude beach on Fire Island, New York

For decades, nude beachgoers enjoyed Smith Point County Park on Fire Island in New York.
Unfortunately, the state passed a puritanical anti-nudity law. At first the park's supervisor refused to enforce the law on Federal land within the Federal park. When a new supervisor took over the park, a statement was issued, “Effective immediately, state nudity laws will be enforced at Fire Island National Seashore.”
This is a good lesson for nudists and naturists everywhere. Be on guard for those who seek to take away our freedoms and fight their efforts while there is still time.
The National Park Service website says, "Smith Point County Park is located at the eastern end of Fire Island. While it lies within the boundaries of Fire Island National Seashore, this area is not managed by the National Park Service. The park is accessible by car via the William Floyd Parkway. Parking is available in the Smith Point County Park lot (fee charged) for access to the Otis Pike Fire Island High Dune Wilderness and Wilderness Visitor Center."
