Exceptional Traditional Italian Food in Casselberry, Florida
By Steven Skelley and Thomas Routzong
We visited Vinzo's Italian Grill and Pizzeria in Casselberry, Florida just minutes from Orlando and enjoyed one of the best Italian meals we have had anywhere. We met and spoke with owner Vinny Essa about his restaurant, the city and the future.
Can you try to describe Vinzo's Italian Grill and Pizzeria
in one sentence?
Vinzo's is your neighborhood family restaurant that serves outstanding meals and pizza at reasonable prices, all in a clean and friendly environment.
How did Vinzo's Italian Grill and Pizzeria come to be?
Vinzo's is the latest twist in my long history of Italian restaurant/ pizzeria style cuisine. I have been a restauranteur for over 15 years with a family that has over 40 years experience in the business. It's time to simplify and bring something new to the table and that's what Vinzo's offers.
What can you tell us about your menu and the inspirations / backgrounds of your dishes?
Our philosophy is simple: Use exceptional quality ingredients combine it with traditional culinary skills (old time cooking techniques) and you will produce an amazing product.
We have a mixture of our unique creations plus our intake on traditional Italian entrees. We believe listening to customers and following trends help create most of our hit dishes.
Why did you choose Casselberry, Florida and what has been the response?
I fell in love with Casselberry back in the late 90's because of its small town feel and the strong family values that it held. It seemed to me as the perfect middle class town that I want to serve and grow in.
(I) decided to open my first restaurant in 2003 and named it Italian Village Pizza as part of a my family business pizza chain. In 2014 I decided to open my own name restaurant and named it Vinzo's with more of contemporary/ traditional design that fitted more of my personality and the food we serve.
The response has been amazing all along although people were shocked to see the change. All in all, Casselberry is our home now and we are enjoying the new successful concept with our customers.
What are your plans for the future?
Hopefully expand Vinzo's into more small towns and even bigger cities. We are confident that our exceptional quality food, experience and business ethics we will help us grow into a multi location family business.
Conclusion:
Vinny Essa is the perfect host. He is outgoing, talented and he makes some incredible Italian food. We hope to return soon.
