Abrico Beach
Rio de Janeiro's nudist beach

Abrico Beach, just outside of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is a legal nude beach.

The Abrico Naturista Association (ANA)  is present on Abrico Beach "on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays when weather and ocean conditions are favorable."

According to ANA, Abriso Beach can be reached:

By bus:  The cheapest way to go to Abrico Beach from Copacabana (or in any location near the sea in the South Zone) is take bus 360 (Recreio) or 382 (Piabas) on Atlantica Avenue (except Sundays), in Copacabana, (on Sundays you can catch the buses on Barata Ribeiro street) (from Ipanema you must take the bus on Vieira Souto Avenue or in Leblon, on Delfim Moreira Avenue).  Get off in any bus stop on Americas Avenue (Avenida das Américas) AFTER Terminal Alvorada, and then take bus 818 (Recreio) or 880 (Recreio)and get off in front of Condomínio MARAMAR, on Macumba Beach. From there you have to go three kilometers (2 miles) on foot, along Avenida Estado de Guanabara, the road that goes around the hills, at the edge of the sea. Go through Prainha, stay on the road. It will go up, but when it goes down again to Grumari beach, as you look seaward, go to your left. Abricó beach is behind the boulders.

By car: To go to Abrico beach by car, you must go to Barra da Tijuca, taking Avenue of the Americas (Avenida das Américas). When you reach the RECREIO SHOPPING mall on your left, don't go up the bridge but take the smaller road to the right. (The road seems the same Avenue of the Americas, but that continues over the bridge. The road is called Vereador Alceu de Carvalho on the map, but no one knows the name.) Take this road until it reaches the canal. Turn left. At the end of the canal, turn right on the first intersection (Praia da Macumba, next to the MARAMAR residential condominium on the right), and continue following the road by the sea, Avenida Estado da Guanabara, which will climb the mountains. The first beach you will see is PRAINHA, but go on. After the second mountain, the asphalt becoming cobblestones, you go down to Grumari. Park the car, look to the sea and go left. Abrico beach is behind the boulders.

When choosing a nude cruise, resort or vacation, remember that there are three types of nude experiences - nudism, naturism and hedonism.

*Nudism is simply the enjoyment of the freedom of being nude.
*Naturism is an embracing of a holistic/natural (and naturally nude) life.
*Hedonism (also called Lifestyle) is a search for multiple sexual experiences in a nude environment.

Choose your destination according to your own beliefs and preferences.
